Biography. Born in Metz François de Nomé ( – after ) was a French painter of the Baroque period, active mainly in Naples. Born in Metz in the Lorraine region in , de Nomé had moved to Rome by [1] where he worked in the workshop of the Flemish landscape painter Balthasar Lauwers until around [2] after which he moved to Naples. [1].

François de Nomé moved to François de Nomé’s work is characterised by his use of a small format and the application of heavy impasto. The chronology of his oeuvre is difficult to establish as only a few of his paintings are dated and the figures in these dates are difficult to read.
